Jamaican Military Museum & Library

Miss Teen World Jamaica 2014 contestants visited the Jamaican Military Museum & Library recently.

 

On Saturday, May 3, 17 girls were sashed as finalists in the 2014/15 Miss Teen Jamaica Contest, at the Girl Guides headquarters at 2 Waterloo Road.

The entertaining event featured a stellar performance from 2006 Digicel Rising Star first runner-up, popular recording artiste Nickeisha Barnes, and a cameo appearance from up-and-coming artiste Krishna Laird.

 

The girls appeared in formal, casual and swimwear, and also performed a variety of songs, dances and poems, including popular poetry from the late Louise Bennett Coverley, under the watchful eyes of the judges. They are between ages 13 and 17, and are from high schools across the island.

 

The 17 finalists are: Danae Dennis (Miss Fay's On Wheels Restaurant); Sashoy Brown (Miss Big Stone Records); Makayda Codrington (Miss Synergy Engineering); Zalika Francis (Miss Absolute Car Rental); Melinda Levy (Miss Lawson's Hardware & Blockmaking, Anchovy); Kelsy Jo Sharpe (Miss Singer Jamaica); Shadae Stephenson (Miss J'Sin Promotions); Khadeen Johnson (Miss LMH Publishing); Anessia Forsythe (Miss Royale Cones); Codeth Cameron (Miss Alaleje Boutique); Krystal Bogle (Miss Johnson's Maintenance); Lashanie Simms (Miss Bright Star Beauty Salon, Cayman Islands); Faith Hope Campbell (Miss Togra Promotions); Marsha Russell (Miss Cherub's Nursery & Education Centre); Meca Gaye Francis (Miss Value Auto Spares); Nimoy Bailey (Miss Linval Hardware & Blockmaking); and Nickada Plummer (Miss Assign Beauty Hair Salon, of London).

 

During the next two months the girls will visit dignitaries of state, children's homes, call on the mayor of Kingston, and will go on at least one out-of-town visit.

 

Emcee for the evening was Kool 97 media professional, Phoenix Hill. The annual contest has been staged by J'Sin Promotions for the past 33 years, and focuses on the talents and intelligence of the girls.
